Spring in Stockholm

Spring in Stockholm

April and May are among the most beautiful times to visit Stockholm. Parks burst into bloom, cafés put out their terrace furniture and archipelago boats start running. Djurgården is at its best without summer crowds.

Some archipelago boats and outdoor attractions open in May — check current timetables.

Summer — Stockholm at its best

June to August is peak season. Nearly 18 hours of daylight in July, Gröna Lund, archipelago trips and terraces along Strandvågen. Book hotels and popular restaurants well in advance.

Stockholm is very popular in summer — book accommodation early, especially in July.

Autumn — museum season

September and October bring spectacular autumn colours to Djurgården's parks. Fewer tourists and easier restaurant reservations. Perfect for museums and food experiences.

Weather can be unsettled in October — keep an umbrella handy.

Winter — festive and cosy

Gamla Stan in Christmas lights is magical. The Christmas markets at Stortorget and Skansen are among the most visited in Scandinavia. The Nobel banquet at City Hall sets the mood in December.

Short days in December, but indoor attractions like the Vasa Museum and ABBA The Museum are open year-round.
